Our History

Doctors

Jim and Carrie Maciulla had a vision: to provide quality care for all animals, but with a humble approach.  One evening over dinner, Jim was inspired—he sketched out on a napkin his complete design for making the couple’s vision a reality. In June 2006, Jim and Carrie opened Continental Animal Wellness Center.

With a background in veterinary medicine, Carrie’s family took special interest in the development of their vision.  Carrie’s father, Veterinary Doctor Clinton Balok, placed the rock in the main lobby as a tribute to her grandfather; this rock was originally from the family homestead in Page, New Mexico.  Even the metal shingles in the reception area hold a place of honor for Carrie’s family, as they were the original tin shingles from her grandfather’s barn. Jim’s father, Doctor Greg Maciulla and his wife, Jill, were also a huge support and participated extensively in the building of the clinic. This Center has truly been a family affair!

A sense of professional honor and lots of hard work produced the manifestation of Jim and Carrie’s dream—to provide a safe and warm environment for both their human clients and their animal patients.  Everything within the facility has a history and a story. We invite you to visit; enjoy a cup of coffee in our beautiful rustic setting and become part of our family at Continental Animal Wellness Center.
